'Completely Fit': Two Liverpool stars return to full fitness just in time for Man United battle

0 5

Manchester United are gearing up for a Premier League showdown against fierce rivals Liverpool this Sunday.

The first meeting of the two sides for the 2025-26 season will take place at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has delivered a key fitness update ahead of the crucial clash, putting an end to all the rumours surrounding three players.

He said (Liverpoolfc.com): “Ryan Gravenberch is completely fit, although we still have to train twice. But if you ask me now he is completely fit.

“Ibou (Ibrahima Konate) has come back to us, started the sessions again and is expected to train with us today. He (Alisson Becker) is not training with us, so he is out.”

The Dutch midfielder was taken off as a precaution at half-time during the Netherlands’ World Cup qualifying victory over Finland.

United fans would have preferred a Liverpool side without Gravenberch, who was instrumental in Slot’s success last term.

He has been ever-present for the Reds this term, missing only one Premier League game so far this season through suspension.

He is now likely to pair up with Argentine international Alexis Mac Allister in midfield.

The update on Konate will also be a major boost for Slot, considering Giovanni Leoni is expected to be out for some months.

The Frenchman has started all seven games with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.

Konate has often shown vulnerability at the back, which must be exposed by Benjamin Sesko.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will retain his spot between the sticks in Alisson Becker’s absence.

Liverpool’s form has dipped alarmingly, with three straight defeats threatening to derail their campaign early.

Ruben Amorim’s men must sense blood and seize this moment to deepen their rivals’ misery at Anfield.
