Must admit this season has not come as much as a surprise considering we grinded out 90% of the games last season waiting for lesser teams to lose concentration or lack fitness.
I think it is glaringly obvious the attacking nous of dowell really set us on our way last year in light of the passive midfield duo of paik / iwata.
We are also missing the balance and composure Ben Davies brought to the team who slotted in seamlessly and was deemed to be a valuable member of the squad last year with his leadership skills.
I don't agree with Alfie May being sold as he was much more than a striker for this club with his infectious personality that contributed massively to us being promoted.
The acid test would be this season with questions asked as to how we would handle the higher levels of fitness and concentration from opponents, sadly we have gone about our ways thinking we are playing league one teams and we can break teams down playing slow control based football with very little attacking intent.
Paik didnt handle the championship two seasons ago, it was obvious he didnt like being rushed or pushed about and would quickly drop off, Iwata cant impose himself this season as his physicality is being matched or bettered by opponents, Davies insistence on playing paik and iwata in the middle is not working and Doyle / Leonard should be given more game time considering how absent our first choice midfield have been this season.
The stats are shocking where as up until last night stanno had an average of one shot on target for every 3 games!.

I cant see Davies tactics working without better execution and I don't think the players are good enough
