Man United U18s hit Wolves for four to maintain flawless U18 PL start

0 7

Manchester United U18s continued their impeccable start to the season in the U18 Premier League North, winning 4-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

United started the game on the front foot and scored in the fourth minute as Amir Ibragimov volleyed the ball home, but the goal was ruled offside.

Wolves then went to the other end and forced United goalkeeper Fred Heath to make a superb save to keep the scoreline goalless.

United regained control of the game and opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Nathaniel-Junior Brown combined with Amir Ibragimov, who passed to JJ Gabriel to finish expertly.

Gabriel got the game’s next chance, striking a fierce shot towards goal, which Alfie Arnold in the Wolves goal initially failed to deal with, but the goalkeeper eventually gathered the ball.

Despite the poor weather conditions, the young Reds continued to dominate possession and doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime.

Samuel Lusale found James Bailey, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Less than a minute later, Lusale made it 3-0 to register his first goal of the season.

Wolves made a lightning start to the second half, and Mason Stevens nearly pulled one back for them, but Heath saved his effort.

The United goalkeeper made another superb stop to preserve his clean sheet, denying Jake Wilcox’s close-range effort from a corner kick.

Darren Fletcher’s side ended the hosts’ hope of a comeback, adding to their tally just after the hour mark as Brown buried the ball home after receiving a pass from Gabriel.

Lusale nearly made it 5-0 in stoppage time but struck his effort wide.

Man United U18s return to action next Saturday at Carrington with a top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City, last season’s winner of the division.
