Report: Celtics Add Pair of Players To Compete For Two-Way Spots
Amari Williams, Max Shulga and RJ Luis Jr. are expected to be the Boston Celtics two-way players at the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
The team reportedly agreed to deals with a pair of other players on Friday who could battle for those spots.
“The Boston Celtics and Jalen Bridges have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social. Bridges will compete for a two-way spot in training camp. Bridges was a two-way player with the Phoenix Suns last season, appearing in eight NBA games,” HoopsHype senior NBA insider Michael Scotto posted on Bluesky. “The Boston Celtics have agreed to a deal with Kendall Brown, sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social. He’ll compete for a two-way spot in camp. Brown was a two-way player with the Brooklyn Nets last season. He averaged 16.1 points on 57% from the field and 40% from 3-point range in the G League.”
Jalen Bridges played two seasons at West Virginia and two years with Baylor, earning third team All-Big 12 honors during his senior campaign with the Bears in 2023-24.
He signed a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns last July and played just 30 minutes across eight games with the team last season, going 2-for-7 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line. All seven of his field goal attempts were three-pointers and he added four rebounds and four turnovers during his brief NBA experience as well.
Kendall Brown played just one college season, suiting up for Baylor during the 2021-22 campaign (before Bridges arrived to the program).
The guard was a Big-12 All Freshman honoree, was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft and traded to the Indiana Pacers.
Brown played in just six games as a rookie before appearing in 15 contests with Indiana during the 2023-24 campaign. He averaged 1.4 points and 4.2 minutes per game two seasons ago, went 8-for-15 from the field (0-for-2 on three-pointers) and 5-for-8 from the free throw line while adding five assists and five rebounds.
The 22-year-old Brown was waived by the Pacers last October and signed a two-way deal with the Brooklyn Nets in February. He was then waived by the Nets in early March.
