Patriots Elevate Two Defenders For Week 2 Game Vs. Dolphins

The New England Patriots rounded out their roster ahead of Sunday’s division showdown with the Miami Dolphins.

New England elevated cornerback Kobee Minor and linebacker Mark Robinson from the practice squad for the Week 2 matchup, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots also elevated Robinson for their season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The 26-year-old linebacker recorded a tackle on one of his three special-teams snaps.

Robinson played all 17 games in each of the last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 2022 seventh-round pick registered 30 tackles and a sack in 2023 before forcing two fumbles in 2024.

New England made Minor the 257th and final pick of this year’s NFL Draft. The 6-foot cornerback played for three different colleges (Texas Tech, Indiana, Memphis) over five seasons, tallying two sacks, two forced fumbles and six pass breakups last year.

Minor embraced his “Mr. Irrelevant” draft spot while fighting to make New England’s 53-man roster this summer.

“I love it because I’ve never been a highly recruited guy,” Minor said after the draft. “I’ve never been one of the top guys. So, really this isn’t anything new to me. I’m going to just go out here and do what I got to do, put my head down and grind, like I’ve always have.”

The 23-year-old can see his first NFL action on Sunday. He’ll provide depth to a Patriots secondary playing without star cornerback Christian Gonzalez for the second straight week.

Sunday’s game between the Patriots and Dolphins starts at 1 p.m. ET.
