Thuram brothers face off in Derby d’Italia battle: ‘He knows what I think of him’
Brothers Khephren and Marcus Thuram both start on opposing sides of the Derby d’Italia between Juventus and Inter tonight, but assure they ‘want to win.’
It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
This has always been a bitter rivalry between two clubs that goes back decades, but there can never be anything more than healthy competition between two brothers facing off on the field.
It is the first time that both Thuram siblings have been in the starting XI of the same match as opponents.
Khephren and Marcus Thuram exchange messages
They spoke to DAZN Italia before kick-off in Turin, with Khephren asked what Marcus thinks of him.
“In football terms, he thinks I am a good player who can make the difference. And as a brother, he thinks I am the best little brother in the world!”
What did Igor Tudor say to the squad in the build-up to this match?
“He said Inter are a very strong team, but we’ve got to play with courage, attack, and show character.”
Khephren grew up with his big brother Marcus, as well as father Lilian, but did he have idols outside his family too?
“My idols were Paul Pogba, Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure, they are my three favourite players.”
Marcus came to Serie A first and was followed by Khephren, while he was also born in Italy.
“Last season was the first time we played against each other, but we are more used to it now. It is between Inter and Juve, we want to win,” said the Inter striker.
Did he send a message to his little brother over the last few days with a special message?
“He knows what I think of him, and I know what he thinks about me. That’s what is important.”
