Allegri confirms Leao will miss Milan vs. Bologna and potentially more
Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Rafael Leao will still be unavailable through injury for Sunday’s Serie A test against Bologna, and that the Portugal international could also be ruled out of more fixtures to come.
Leao lined up as a starter for the first-round Coppa Italia fixture between Milan and Bari in August, scored the opening goal of the game, but was then forced to withdraw shortly afterwards.
He was unable to participate in either of Milan’s first two Serie A matches of the season and did not report for national team duty with Portugal earlier in September as a result.
Allegri confirms Leao out of Milan-Bologna, and possible Udinese as well
Leao has recently warned that ‘we can’t take any risks’ with his current muscular injury, and now Allegri has confirmed that the 26-year-old could sit out of the next two league matches. The Bologna game on Sunday is a definite miss, though.
“Leao has a problem with his soleus, which is a very dangerous muscle,” Allegri said during his pre-match press conference on Saturday.
“He won’t be with us tomorrow, he won’t even be there in Udine most likely. Estupinan is fine, Pulisic has no problem and is fine,” Allegri said during while discussing injury and fitness concerns.
