Agreement reached: Man United set to offload another star to Turkey after Andre Onana
Manchester United are set to offload the final member of the infamous ‘bomb squad’ this week.
According to journalist Resat Can Ozbudak, Man United reached an agreement with Turkish club Eyupspor for the loan transfer of defender Tyrell Malacia.
The Super Lig side currently sit in tenth place in the league and have only Umut Meras as a natural left-back.
Malacia will have an opportunity to stake a claim for the starting position and earn regular game time.
La Liga club Elche CF were in talks with the 26-year-old for a loan transfer before the deadline day, but the deal collapsed as the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement.
The British window had closed but Turkish clubs could still make transfers until September 12.
Malacia was the first player signed by Erik ten Hag after taking over the head coach role at United in 2022.
The Dutch international failed to provide competition to Luke Shaw and was sidelined for 550 days after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.
He played eight times under head coach Ruben Amorim but failed to impress in the 3-4-2-1 system.
He spent the second half of last season on loan with PSV Eindhoven but the Eredivisie club decided against triggering the option to buy.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho were the other four members of the ‘bomb squad’.
Rashford and Sancho secured loan moves to Barcelona and Aston Villa.
Garnacho and Antony completed permanent transfers to Chelsea and Real Betis, helping United pocket over £60 million in sales.
Selling Malacia was always going to be a tough task, considering his injuries and lost form.
The left-back is not the only player who could depart for Turkey in the next 48 hours.
Andre Onana is also closing in on a season-long loan move to Trabzonspor after the arrival of young goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on the transfer deadline day.
