Aston Villa chief Monchi closely monitoring big-name attacker ahead of ambitious transfer move
Aston Villa sporting director Monchi is reportedly keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt ahead of an ambitious potential transfer move.
The 29-year-old playmaker is firmly on Villa’s radar at the moment, and it seems he’s also keen on a move to the Premier League at some point, according to Fichajes.
Brandt has had a fine career in the Bundesliga, spending six years as a star player at Bayer Leverkusen, while he’s now in his seventh season at Dortmund.
It would certainly be exciting to see a talent like Brandt in English football, and Villa’s Monchi is said to be closely monitoring his situation.
Julian Brandt to seal Aston Villa transfer?
Villa have shown plenty of ambition in the transfer market in recent times, and it seems they’re now lining up another move to excite their fans.
Brandt is also said to be keen to move to England, so although this is a slightly ambitious deal, it also looks like it could be a realistic one for Monchi and co. to pull off.
Unai Emery’s side could also certainly be one of the most tempting options for Brandt if he does come to the Premier League, as it would likely afford him the chance to play in Europe.
Brandt also looks like he could be a good fit for Villa’s style of play under Emery, giving them a replacement for recent players who’ve left, such as Jacob Ramsey, who joined Newcastle in the summer, and Marco Asensio, who didn’t end up making his loan permanent.
