£4.3m flop set for final Man Utd game today, 23yo replacement already 'said yes' to transfer

0 1

Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage today to face Fulham in a Premier League showdown.

The biggest question hangs over who Ruben Amorim will trust between the sticks.

Despite being fully fit, Andre Onana was ruthlessly left out of the matchday squad against Arsenal last weekend.

In his absence, Altay Bayindir was handed the gloves, with veteran Tom Heaton settling for a place on the bench.

Bayindir impressed with his ball distribution but one costly blunder gifted Arsenal the decisive goal.

It was not the first time the Turkish international failed to command his box and cope with the physicality of the opposition.

The small body of evidence so far suggests he may not have the quality to be United’s long-term No.1.

Bayindir moved to Old Trafford from Fenerbahce in a deal worth £4.3m in 2023 and has played 12 times for the Red Devils.

United are pushing ahead in talks to land Antwerp’s rising star Senne Lammens this summer.

Lammens has already ‘said yes’ to the Red Devils and is keen to for a late dream transfer.

His arrival could bring an end to Bayindir’s United career.

Amorim was quick to defend the 27-year-old in the post-Arsenal press conference last week and could name him in the starting XI.

It would send a brutal message to Onana that his place as United’s first-choice goalkeeper is far from secure.

The Belgian international is a promising shot-stopper but may need time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League.
