The Proclaimers Pledge Support to HCF
“The sponsorship is great on so many levels,” said Hibernian Community Club Development Manager, Paul Doig.
“For our players it means new kit and equipment thanks to the sponsorship; giving them the best gear available to help them in their footballing development. For the Community Club and Foundation it means connecting with the biggest band Leith has ever produced and continuing a relationship that has stretched over decades. It just makes sense.”
The Proclaimers have had a long and storied history with Hibernian FC, most notably playing integral roles in the Hands Off Hibs campaign in the 1990s. Throughout the protest against a controversial potential take-over Charlie and Craig donated amplification equipment, marquees for guests and most importantly their time to headline rallies at Easter Road and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall.
It was this dedication to keep Hibs Hibs that saw their 1988 hit Sunshine on Leith become the anthem of Hibernian Football Club, keeping The Proclaimers in supporters hearts and minds to this day after every momentous result.
HCF would like to thank The Proclaimers for their commitment to the Community Club, aiding and promoting the development of grassroots football. We look forward to building on this partnership in the future.
