The Proclaimers Pledge Support to HCF

0 2

The Hibernian Community Foundation is thrilled to announce that iconic Leith band The Proclaimers have once again sponsored the full girls pathway in the Hibernian Community Club.

The sponsorship will see The Proclaimers logo adorn the front of all the girls’ purple away shirts, as well as supplying further training kit.

With a long history of connection to the Hibernian Community, sponsoring teams in the Community Club was all too easy a decision for Edinburgh’s most iconic twins.

“When we heard the girls needed a sponsor for their kits, we were all too keen to get involved, put our logo on the front and supply what they needed,” said a spokesperson for the Reid brothers.

“We have a long history with Hibernian and the Community Foundation. It only feels right to be involved again, being able to supply playing kit really means a lot for us.”

In 2022 The Proclaimers sponsored the Hibernian Girls Academy South East Under 12s in their 9-a-side league. A number of the same players are set to benefit from this new sponsorship, showing the strength and longevity of the bands’ support for grassroots football.

Through the current sponsorship players have received an away kit emblazoned with the Proclaimers logo, as well as supporting items such as back-packs, boot-bags, and training kit.

“The sponsorship is great on so many levels,” said Hibernian Community Club Development Manager, Paul Doig.

“For our players it means new kit and equipment thanks to the sponsorship; giving them the best gear available to help them in their footballing development. For the Community Club and Foundation it means connecting with the biggest band Leith has ever produced and continuing a relationship that has stretched over decades. It just makes sense.”

The Proclaimers have had a long and storied history with Hibernian FC, most notably playing integral roles in the Hands Off Hibs campaign in the 1990s. Throughout the protest against a controversial potential take-over Charlie and Craig donated amplification equipment, marquees for guests and most importantly their time to headline rallies at Easter Road and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall.

It was this dedication to keep Hibs Hibs that saw their 1988 hit Sunshine on Leith become the anthem of Hibernian Football Club, keeping The Proclaimers in supporters hearts and minds to this day after every momentous result.

HCF would like to thank The Proclaimers for their commitment to the Community Club, aiding and promoting the development of grassroots football. We look forward to building on this partnership in the future.
