Milan look to Leicester’s Okoli for additional defensive reinforcements
After completing the signing of Koni De Winter from Genoa, Milan have now turned their attention to Leicester City centre-back Caleb Okoli.
According to what has been reported by Tuttosport, via MilanNews24, there is also an agreement in principle between Okoli and the Rossoneri, worth between €1.8-2 million per season for five years until 2030.
The reports also claim that Leicester have set their asking price for the 24-year-old Italian at around €20-25 million.
Thiaw sale funds Milan moves for De Winter & Leicester’s Okoli
Milan have worked the transfer window well this summer, as new sporting director Igli Tare attempts to implement a sensible business strategy behind the scenes at the Rossoneri – to avoid some mistakes that have been made repeatedly in the last decade at the club.
Last week, the Milanese side sold German defender Malick Thiaw to Newcastle for a reported fee of €40 million and have already reinvested part of this in De Winter. The former Juventus defender joins Milan after a strong season with Genoa and Okoli would represent the other half of the ‘Thiaw fund’ – giving the Rossoneri two talented defenders for the price of one, essentially.
