QUEEN’S PARK drew 1-1 with Dundee in a closed doors friendly match at The city Stadium on Thursday.
The Spiders fell behind to a goal less than two minutes into the game – played in blazing southside sunshine.
The visiting Dark Blues had the better of the first half shooting into the Somerville Drive end of The city Stadium, but Queen’s Park ensured the same end was busy in the second half.
A low drive from Aidan McGinlay within seconds of the restart was pushed out by Jon McCracken, but spun high into the path of Tyrece McDonnell who nodded in the equaliser.
That’s how it finished in a worthwhile run out for the Spiders who are without competitive action this weekend.
Head coach Sean Crighton said: “You have to take everything you can from it – we scored a very good goal from something we have been working on recently and it paid off, so I’m very happy.
“It was a good workout and against a good Premiership outfit and we more than matched them at times. We made changes to the team from Saturday and then other changes within the game so it was a good run out for all the players.”
The head coach has also been pleased with the reaction to last week’s 3-1 home reverse to Arbroath.
He added: “We were so much more like ourselves [against Dundee] and, compared to Saturday, there was a difference.
“As I said three mistakes cost us on Saturday but this was a good opportunity to eradicate mistakes, get some good, positive work done and re-focus on the Airdrie game next weekend.”
