Gray: It Feels Like Two Points Dropped
Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray was frustrated after his side drew 2-2 with Kilmarnock at Easter Road.
Goals from Rocky Bushiri and Elie Youan gave Hibs the lead in the first-half, however a goal either side of half-time condemned Hibs to a point.
When speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Gray gave his thoughts on the performance.
“It’s hugely disappointing to draw after being 2-0 up. It feels like two points dropped, we know that.
“Our level of performance was different in the two halves. The first half performance level was excellent. We started well and the players did everything I asked in terms of the intensity, moving the ball quickly, and getting the crowd behind us. We then gave away a really poor goal just before half-time, which gave the opposition a bit of belief. The wondergoal made it 2-2. Our second half performance, our quality, our decision-making, our composure on the ball wasn’t as good as the first half.
“A positive to take is we didn’t lose the game, but it was definitely a game of two halves in our level of performance.”
As Gray stated, the performance between the first 45 and the second was vastly different, and our Head Coach detailed why he thought that was the case.
“It’s momentum. It happens in football and sport all the time. If we played the way we did in the first half and went in 2-0 up, the opposition were probably desperate for the half-time whistle, but they got belief when they scored.
“After they made it 2-2 the learning from us is our level of performance in the second half had to be better. A lot of that is showing and demonstrating to the players where their decision-making could be better.”
