Two unique conditions included in Sesko to Man United deal
Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The Red Devils will shell out €76.5 million (£66.4m) upfront, with an additional €8.5m in performance-based add-ons, to wrap up a summer attacking revamp.
Having already spent around £130m on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, United are clearly not holding back in their pursuit of firepower.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga side and Man United have also agreed on a joint friendly in Leipzig. This will enable the German club to earn around €1.5–2m.
Leipzig have also inserted a sell-on clause, which will help them earn profits if United sell Sesko in the future.
Newcastle United were also interested in signing Sesko. They offered a higher fee upfront, €82.5m (and €2.5m in add-ons), but Sesko favoured a move to Old Trafford.
Leipzig were respectful of the player’s choice and sanctioned his exit.
Their decision to add a sell-on clause shows they are confident that the 22-year-old will have a fantastic future.
Sesko has netted 39 goals and eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig since joining from RB Salzburg in 2023.
The friendly fixture stands out as a unique condition in the deal, showing the level of creativity involved in the negotiation.
United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and playing against them will attract revenue and visibility.
This shows that INEOS have been very thoughtful in their approach to completing this transfer.
With a reshaped frontline at his disposal, Ruben Amorim now has all the tools to deliver attacking fluency in the upcoming campaign.
