Yankees Activate Aaron Judge From 10-Day Injured List

The New York Yankees have gone 4-6 over their last 10 games and find themselves 2.5 games back of the second-place Boston Red Sox in the American League East standings. Currently riding a four-game losing streak, the Yankees will have a familiar face returning to the lineup when they face the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

According to multiple sources, New York has activated slugger Aaron Judge from the 10-day injured list in a flurry of roster moves. Judge was placed on the IL on July 27 with a right flexor strain and will become the team’s designated hitter for the foreseeable future, with Giancarlo Stanton making the move to right field.

Before being injured last month, Judge was considered among the favorites to win American League MVP after producing a .342 batting average with 37 home runs and 85 RBIs in 103 games this season. The seven-time All-Star will return to a Yankees club that was recently very active during the trade deadline this year, and has recently been criticized by its fan base for poor defensive play in the field.

Speaking to MLB.com writer Dave Sessions, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was hopeful yet cautious when discussing the earliest date that Judge could return to the outfield this season.

“We’ll see when we get back home [on Friday against the Astros],”said Boone, per Sessions. “The process they’re going through — as far as treatments, I know he did plyos today, and then he’ll start introducing playing catch, and then his arm will tell him [when he’s ready].”
