A Letter from CEO Kim Stone

0 5

Dear Investors,

After a month-long pause for international competition, the NWSL resumes this weekend, and so does our push toward the 2025 playoffs. We return to the pitch sitting in 4th place, behind Kansas City, Orlando, and San Diego, and with a healthy roster and renewed focus, we are ready for the challenge.

The international break was anything but quiet for the Spirit. Our very own Esme Morgan helped lead England to the Women’s Euro 2025 Championship, defeating Italy in the semifinals, a team featuring our newest signing, Sofia Cantore. Sofia’s arrival generated global excitement with over 1 billion in media reach from her announcement. She’ll make her Spirit debut in August.

We also welcomed back Trinity Rodman, now recovered from her back injury. She’s rejoined the squad in great shape and will gradually ramp up her minutes in August.

Adrián González is back on the sidelines, this time as our new head coach and recovering from an Achilles injury. Crutches or not, his passion for the game and commitment to our players burns bright, as evident in his inspiring remarks at our introductory press conference on July 17th.

One of the highlights of the break was our Spirit Open Training on July 19, where more than 3,000 fans turned out to get a first look at the team coming out of the break. It was a family-friendly event that featured fan activities from seven of our partners, food trucks, and live color commentary by our Spirit TV host, Gaby Vincent. The event generated a buzz in the market about our return at exactly the right moment as we look to regain momentum and reenergize the fanbase heading into August.

On the business front, the team continues to perform. We’re ranked third in the NWSL in total paid attendance and opened 2026 Season Ticket Membership renewals on July 29 with 6,155 seats up for renewal. We also rank third in the league in total social engagements, driven by the continued growth of our Instagram and TikTok channels. In July, we launched Spanish-language social channels, @SomosSpirit, as part of our broader strategy to expand access and engagement for all fans. Please be sure to follow it and all our social channels.

Last month saw our partnerships portfolio expanded with the additions of Diageo and Giant Food, and our business operations staff used the break to refresh fan experiences with enhanced theme nights and the return of our popular ticket-and-a-drink offer, ensuring we remain one of the most beloved sports outings in the DMV.

As we look ahead to a busy August with 3 home games, I want to thank you for your support of this team. The second half of the season promises to be special, and we’re just getting started.

Let’s Go Spirit,
Kim
