Tottenham fans name ten players Spurs should target after Morgan Gibbs-White snub

0 2

Tottenham supporters have wasted no time identifying their preferred Morgan Gibbs-White alternatives after another frustrating transfer collapse left fans disappointed once again.

It did feel too good to be true when reports emerged that, a day after completing the £55 million signing of Mohammed Kudus, Tottenham moved quickly and activated the £60 million release clause of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tottenham even had a medical booked just 24 hours later, as the club looked to make a bold statement, spending £115 million in the space of 48 hours to strengthen Thomas Frank’s squad ahead of the new season.

A legal back-and-forth quickly ensued between both clubs – one that saw Nottingham Forest file a formal complaint against Tottenham – and yesterday, the final nail was put in the coffin, as reports confirmed Gibbs-White had extended his stay at Forest.

Tottenham fans react to Morgan Gibbs-White collapse with new transfer suggestions

Tottenham must now move on after losing out on yet another key transfer target, in what is now becoming a frustratingly familiar theme that harks back to the Paulo Dybala days.

Regardless, Spurs fans have wasted no time reacting to the latest blow, and many have already begun naming their preferred alternatives, hoping the club will pivot quickly and decisively.

One fan said: “I have kept saying, but now it is urgent. Get Eze before the scum get him. Immediately pay his release clause, it is an emergency.”

Another added: “Give me Wharton. That is more of a priority anyway.” A third Tottenham fan commented: “Rodrygo Real Madrid.” Another supporter stated: “Xavi Simons, Fermin Lopez.”

Wharton came up once more: “Wharton 100% – we can spend 80, Cirkin and a quality winger.”

Another fan named Lucas Paqueta, alongside other options: “Wharton, Baleba, Stiller in my opinion – bigger money ball progressors from deep midfield. Starting left winger and sell Sonny. If Frank wants another 10-type player, I have read Paqueta is available for £30 million.”

A further suggestion included: “Morgan Rogers.” Rogers mentions continued: “Eze, Morgan Rogers, Leao – any of those three, as well as Palhinha.”

One final fan added: “Rodrygo (if the deal can be done fast) and more importantly a 6. Another 10/8 was not the best idea anyway. It was a good market opportunity, but not what the squad needs.”

Spurs midfield targets like Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton pose challenges

Over the past few weeks, Tottenham have been linked with several midfielders, with seven names reportedly on their shortlist.

Kobbie Mainoo, Joao Palhinha, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have all been linked to Spurs, but in the cases of Wharton and Baleba, any deal is said to be far from straightforward, as Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion are unwilling to sell.

Eberechi Eze and Xavi Simons are both deep in talks with two of Tottenham’s direct rivals, Arsenal and Chelsea, which makes it very unlikely for Spurs to swoop in and hijack a deal at this stage.

The Rodrygo links have since been reported as false, although Real Madrid are understood to be open to selling the versatile winger if the right offer comes in.

It does, however, remain to be seen if Daniel Levy and co go big when securing an alternative, or if Spurs would move on from their pursuit of an attacking midfielder.
