Liverpool and Manchester United Go Head-to-Head for Victor Osimhen

0 6

The battle for Victor Osimhen is heating up — and it’s Liverpool and Manchester United leading the charge for the Napoli striker’s signature this summer, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey (via TBR Football).

The Nigerian international, once the toast of Serie A after firing Napoli to their historic Scudetto triumph, now finds himself at the centre of a Premier League tug-of-war. After an underwhelming spell at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Osimhen was loaned out to Galatasaray last season, where he rediscovered his form with a solid campaign in Turkey.

Chelsea tried and failed to land him last summer due to personal terms, and despite interest from Saudi giants Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal — with the latter reportedly offering a blockbuster wage package — Osimhen has made it clear he prefers to remain in Europe.

With a release clause of £63 million set to expire in mid-July, top English clubs are circling. Liverpool are in the market for a new striker after Darwin Núñez failed to convince under Arne Slot last term, while Manchester United remain desperate for a reliable No.9 as Rasmus Højlund continues to struggle with consistency.

Interestingly, Newcastle United could also throw their hat in the ring if they are forced to sell Alexander Isak, who happens to be a top target for Liverpool too.

At 26, Osimhen is entering his peak years and brings Champions League pedigree, explosive pace, and a natural eye for goal. A move to the Premier League seems inevitable — the only question is, will he be donning red at Anfield or Old Trafford?

Either way, if Liverpool or United manage to snap him up before his clause expires, it could prove to be one of the smartest deals of the summer window.
