Thomas Frank chooses two existing Tottenham coaches to join his backroom team
Thomas Frank is already putting his stamp on life at Tottenham, and his first major call behind the scenes is a bold one, with two exciting coaches set for bigger roles in his revamped set-up.
Thomas Frank has already started working on his new-look coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2025/26 season.
During the Danish manager’s move to N17, Frank brought along a few of his trusted lieutenants, as they look to get Tottenham back on track following their dismal Premier League finish last season, where they ended 17th.
Some of the coaches currently part of Frank’s backroom team include Justin Cochrane and Chris Haslam, who serve as first-team assistant coach and head of performance/first-team assistant coach, respectively.
Former Manchester United and Arsenal coach Andreas Georgson, who previously worked under Frank at Brentford, has also joined as a first-team assistant with a specialist focus on set pieces at both ends of the pitch.
Thomas Frank adds Matt Wells and Stuart Lewis to Tottenham staff
It was earlier reported that a new goalkeeping coach is set to arrive this summer, with Rob Burch not expected to form part of Frank’s team.
Football.london have now confirmed that Thomas Frank has made two further additions to his Tottenham coaching staff, with Matt Wells and Stuart Lewis both stepping into senior roles as part of the Dane’s backroom structure.
Wells is widely regarded as one of the brightest coaching prospects in English football and has been tipped to become a Football League manager in the near future.
The 36-year-old, who is the grandson of Tottenham double-winner Cliff Jones, even rose to the role of senior assistant under Ange Postecoglou before his departure.
Stuart Lewis rewarded for Spurs youth success
Lewis, on the other hand, has impressed with Tottenham’s Under-18s, where he has picked up three trophies in as many years.
The 37-year-old was among the internal candidates considered for a place in the new coaching set-up, and now looks set to make his first leap into senior football with a role under Frank’s stewardship.
While Wells and Lewis have remained from the Postecoglou era, others such as Nick Montgomery, Sergio Raimundo and Mile Jedinak have since moved on from Hotspur Way.
19 Tottenham players have returned to training ahead of pre-season preparations and will now begin working under Frank and his new coaching staff.
