"Coming days": Man Utd poised for transfer talks on £40m star "determined" to join UCL club - report

0 0

Manchester United are planning for a big spending spree this summer.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and they are also negotiating the transfer of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

There could be several more signings made, but this could coincide with player exits. United need to recoup fees and save wages to stay within the financial rules.

Foot Mercato today claim that United are set to hold talks with Barcelona in the ‘coming days’ for Marcus Rashford.

The Catalan giants have resorted to plan B after missing out on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

Rashford is ‘determined’ to join the Blaugrana, and he is prepared to make every effort to facilitate a potential move.

Hansi Flick’s side are likely to propose a loan deal with an option to buy.

United could loan out Rashford to Barcelona

The England international fell out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim in December last year.

He was subsequently loaned out to Aston Villa last winter. Rashford had a good loan stint with 10 goal contributions from 17 appearances before suffering a hamstring injury.

Villa had the option to buy him for around £40 million, but decided against exercising it. Rashford was reluctant to accept a pay cut on his £325,000 per week salary.

However, he is ready to lower his demands to join Barcelona, who are his dream destination.

In our view, United face a difficult situation with Rashford, who has his sights on joining the Blaugrana.

The Spanish champions are likewise interested in him. The best solution could be a loan deal with an option to buy.

Barcelona have registration issues with La Liga and may prefer a temporary move upfront.

In that case, United could still secure a small loan fee and save Rashford’s wages of almost £17 million for next season.

Like Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho appear focused on joining Real Betis and Juventus respectively.

Alejandro Garnacho has been placed on the transfer market, but he wants to stay in the Premier League.

Hence, the club face a hurdle in parting ways with all four attacking players this summer.
