Heung-min Son tells Tottenham whether he wants to stay or go amid LAFC talks
LAFC are now pushing ahead with a move for Heung-min Son, and the Tottenham captain has already decided whether he will accept their offer.
It has been claimed by several sources that Saudi clubs are willing to offer big money for Son, who turns 33 next week and is down the final year of his contract at Tottenham.
However, earlier this week, it was revealed that Spurs will allow Son to decide whether he wants to stay or leave this summer.
Even though this is Tottenham Hotspur’s last opportunity to get a decent fee for the forward, it was explained that they will not push him out the door ahead of the start of the Thomas Frank era.
Heung-min Son has decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur
Multiple reports, including TBR Football, are now reporting that Los Angeles FC are making an ambitious move for the Tottenham captain.
This has been backed by Football Asian, who say that Son is in favour of finishing his career in the United States, preferably in Los Angeles or New York.
The Spurs star sees the U.S. as an ideal destination for the final chapter of his playing career and his post-retirement life.
However, despite LAFC’s interest, Son has decided not to leave Tottenham this summer and would prefer to make the switch to America next year.
The forward has already communicated his decision to the North London club and Thomas Frank sees the South Korean as ‘a pivotal figure’ for the start of his new project at Spurs.
In fact, it is alleged that the reason the Lilywhites did not step forward with an offer for the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze is that they do not expect to lose their captain this summer.
A new contract for Sonny has still not been ruled out
Football Asian suggest that should Son struggle at the start of the season and find himself being sidelined, a January move to the United States and Saudi Arabia could be on the cards.
Conversely, if the forward remains fit and manages to adapt to Frank’s vision, he could be offered a new deal by Tottenham.
While it is unclear if Son will accept a new contract from Spurs, his form in the first half of the season is expected to dictate his future and any potential transfer negotiations.
