Dev Squad To Take On Berwick Rangers

The Hibernian Development Squad travel to Shielfield Park this weekend for their second pre-season friendly. 

Darren McGregor’s side will take on Lowland League club Berwick Rangers on Saturday 5 July; kick-off 3pm.

The Lowdown

A youthful Hibs Dev Squad made a winning start to pre-season on Tuesday evening, defeating Haddington Athletic at Millfield Park.

Luke Davidson fired Hibs in front on 11 minutes, before the hosts levelled shortly after. Adam Buckley would restore our lead ahead of half-time with a powerful header, though Haddington would once again equalise following the second half restart. 

The Hibees would grab the all-important next goal with 15 minutes remaining, as Zach Bruce found himself in the right place at the right time to fire in on the rebound to seal the win for the youthful Dev Squad team. 

The Hosts

While the Dev Squad have already started pre-season, Berwick Rangers will be facing their first test of the 2025/26 season when Hibs travel down to Shielfield Park. 

The club, based just inside the English border while performing in the Scottish league system, finished 16th in the 18-team Lowland League last season. 

Kevin Haynes’ side recently took on the Dev Squad on 5 March 2025, with Hibs winning 3-1 on the night in Berwick-upon-Tweed. 

A brace from Dean Cleland and a sole strike from Owen Calder inside the first 40 minutes was enough to secure the win at Shielfield Park.
