Gyokeres To Arsenal Rumours Just Won’t Go Away

Arsenal fans will be very aware that one of the more regular names on the transfer window speculation rumour mill going back for at least the last 12 months, has been Sporting CP’s Swedish international striker Viktor Gyokeres.

With some talk about the 27 year old hitting the headlines last summer, there were far more concrete rumours come the January transfer window, particular as manager Mikel Arteta made little secret of the fact that he did want to bring in a new striker in the New Year, and of course, as we all know that did not ultimately come to pass. For those who like a flutter or while away some time with the likes of  btc casino online and similar games, well it was not an entirely unexpected outcome was it.

With the line coming out of the club that we would finally be rectify that issue this summer, Gyokeres has again obviously featured in the speculation alongside the likes of Slovenian international and RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle United’s Aleksander Isak.

But things definitely took a turn when the former Coventry City player got into quite the public spat with the club the other week over supposed transfer promises, and varying claims that he had threatened to go on strike if those alleged promises were not honoured.

As those claims continue to bumble on in the background, amidst some rumours saying that the player is also of interest to Ruben Amorim and Manchester United, there are further claims this week that the marksman has again doubled down on what would be his preferred future destination, and that would be the Etihad Stadium and there is again growing speculation that a move continues to edge nearer.

Chief football correspondent Alex Crook recently told the talkSPORT Breakfast show that he had received a message suggesting that Gyokeres has now told his ‘friends and family’ that he now expects to join Arsenal before the closure of the summer transfer window.

This is not the first time that sports reporters have leaned on the players ‘friends and family’ to suggest a connection to the Gunners, but the previous claims centred on his desire for a preferred destination, but did not go as far as to suggest that a deal might now be at a more advanced stage, as this latest piece of speculation would now imply.

Naturally his prior association with Amorim still factors into the speculation, but of course we can offer him Champions League football next season and even if United show remarkable improvement in the former Portuguese internationals second term at Old Trafford, our Premier League finishes over the past few seasons more than show that out of the two clubs, we are far more likely to challenge for the title in the year ahead.

In fact, lifting that title will be Arteta‘s primary aim once again as we head into next season as having pushed top spot so close, he will be desperate to finally get us over the line and finally taste the ultimate success once again.

As ever, ‘gentleman’s agreement’ or not with Sporting, rumours have it that we would be looking at an outlay of at least £60 million, but given the current dispute with the player we could easily need to add another ten or twenty million to that to help grease it through, and money is what it will come down to.
