Alex Cora Reveals Red Sox Pitcher ‘Most Likely’ Out For Season

Pitching injuries come for everyone. Boston Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford hasn’t pitched this season as he rehabbed a knee injury he entered the season with. As he was nearing a return from injury, he hurt his wrist, causing him to be shut down.

Unfortunately, Alex Cora said that Crawford will have surgery on his injured wrist and is “most likely” out for the season.

Cora said the wrist injury happened off the field and was an “accident”.

Crawford pitched a career high 183 2/3 innings in 2024. He pitched through a knee injury for most of the season and performed admirably. The righty registered a 4.36 ERA and struck out 23.1% of the hitters he faced.

The home run ball was an issue for Crawford. He surrendered 34 home runs in 2024, which led baseball. His pitching style lends itself to the long ball, but he’ll look to limit that damage going forward.

Richard Fitts and Tanner Houck‘s return from injuries will help fill innings for Boston, but Crawford would have provided another fresh arm in the event of other injuries.

Crawford is still under team control through the 2028 season. Hopefully, he’ll be ready to contribute next season and beyond.
