Tottenham supporters were left raving on social media after witnessing Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny’s standout display for England Under-19s against Germany, with calls already growing for the midfielder to be given a look-in during pre-season.

The future is indeed bright for Tottenham, who boast a number of exciting prospects in their youth ranks, including Mikey Moore, Luca Williams-Barnett and Jun’ai Byfield.

Tottenham continue to invest heavily in youth, and back in the January window, Spurs secured the services of Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny from Chelsea.

The teenage midfielder, capable of operating both as a six and an eight, has now caught the eye during international duty for England Under-19s against Germany.

The 19-year-old played a crucial role in England’s comeback against Germany, stepping up after the Young Lions found themselves trailing 5-1.

Russell-Denny registered both a goal and an assist as England fought back to draw level, claiming a point at the Under-19 European Championships in what proved to be a thrilling encounter.

His impressive performance sparked widespread reaction from Spurs fans on X, formerly Twitter, with many urging Thomas Frank to assess the youngster when pre-season rolls around.

One supporter wrote: “The talent we have on our books rn is insane. Especially in midfield.” Another stated: “Need to see him alongside Luca Williams-Barnett, Tyrese Hall and Jun’ai Byfield in pre-season.”

A different fan praised the youngster’s flair, saying: “The way he drops his shoulder when receiving on the half turn… I am very impressed. Perfect way to create that extra bit of separation when receiving in central pockets.”

Others voiced similar excitement: “It is crazy to me how some of our best prospects have not really played together. He and Tyrese Hall could be unreal together.”

Of course, supporters of the Lilywhites have every reason to be excited, and with Thomas Frank now at the helm – a manager renowned for nurturing young talents – it would not be surprising to see several academy prospects given the platform to impress.

Spurs have since confirmed that their U21 side would be taking on League Two side Bromley, at The CopperJax Community Stadium on Tuesday, 8th July, with kick-off set for 7.45 pm.

Indeed, this would allow fans of the Lilywhites to see some of the club’s youngsters in action, including Russell-Denny.
