Josh Fowler joins Queen’s Park from Dubai City
QUEEN’S PARK FC is delighted to welcome Josh Fowler to The city Stadium as the club’s fourth new signing of the summer.
The 23-year-old made headlines when he left Scotland two years ago and joined Gulf United, after a starring role with Beith Juniors.
Josh spent the second half of last season at Dubai City but is raring to go after seeing the surface at The city Stadium and agreeing a move back to the William Hill Championship.
He said: “I was really excited when I learned of Queen’s Park interest. It’s a massive opportunity for me and a big step up but I’m excited to get going.
“I learned loads in Dubai. It’s a complete culture shift with people from all over the world coming together but I’ll be using everything I learned there to try and perform here.”
After looking around the facilities at Lochinch and The city Stadium he added: “If anyone knows the Juniors they’ll know the angle of Beith’s pitch – this is very different. The facilities are amazing and the gaffer has shown me around. It’s top.
“I started in the Juniors and did really well there at Beith – we won the league and I finished top scorer.
“I had some interest and trials at Kilmarnock and Motherwell, then came the offer from Dubai.
“It was a strange first year but I stuck at it then in the second year I did well and now I’m here.
“It will be a big change from Dubai but I’m buzzing to be here.”
Queen’s Park head-coach Sean Crighton added: “Josh Fowler might come as a surprise to some people but he scored 49 goals for Beith a couple of years ago and earned himself a move to Dubai.
“I know people will think Juniors to Championship is a big jump but he’s been playing at a decent level at Dubai where he’s scoring goals again so he certainly knows where the back of the net is.
“Josh has many attributes as a player which will be key to having a good season, hopefully he scores goals and helps us make our mark in the Championship this season.
“I saw in his eyes and from his demeanour that he was wanting to come to Queen’s Park to kick on. I’m hoping he can come here, use the platform to kick his own career on – and help us on the pitch.
“As I’ve said, that’s what I want from my players.
“I want them to be aiming to improve, have the heart and desire to get better every day to help the team get better. If all 11 on the pitch and the guys in the squad share that attitude, we’ll be fine.”
