‘I just feel at home here’ – Liverpool target hints at change of transfer plans this summer

0 22

Ajax star Jorrel Hato has emerged as one of the most sought-after young defenders in European football.

The youngster has impressed some of the biggest clubs in the world with his performances for the Dutch club.

Hato has been linked with a move to Liverpool, along with clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, despite mounting speculation over a potential summer exit, the 19-year-old has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to Ajax, stating that he still feels “at home” at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Hato has enjoyed a remarkable rise through the ranks at Ajax, becoming a first-team regular well before his 20th birthday.

Even at such a young age, the defender has made more than 100 appearances for Ajax.

Liverpool target Jorrel Hato not forcing Ajax departure

While his rapid development has naturally drawn attention from elite clubs in the Premier League, Hato appears in no rush to leave.

Hato said, as reported by Voetbal Primeur:

“The smartest thing is to look at it per season. That’s what I do.

“Of course you want to achieve things in the end: the Champions League, a World Cup and a European Championship. I still have plenty of time. I don’t think I absolutely have to win the Champions League in two years.

“In the Dutch league you have to show how good you are against the big clubs. Ultimately, I have to continue to develop the things I am already good at, so that it becomes top. How do I describe my time at Ajax? Ajax is home for me. I just feel at home here.”

Nonetheless, the Dutch club may still be tempted to cash in. With three years remaining on his current contract, this summer could represent the moment of peak valuation for the defender.

Football Insider have reported that Ajax would demand around £40m for the young, versatile defender.

For now, Hato is focused on Ajax, and any move to the Premier League will depend on how talks progress behind the scenes.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are expected to continue monitoring the situation closely as they assess defensive reinforcements.

The Reds are keen on defensive additions this summer and Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio on their radar.
