Thomas Frank to Tottenham done deal is premature despite Fabrizio Romano claim
New claims have poured cold water on reports that Thomas Frank has already agreed to become the new Tottenham boss, despite a ‘here we go’ from Fabrizio Romano.
Tottenham Hotspur are still without a manager since they sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, 6 June, after his two seasons as Spurs boss.
This morning, we reported that Tottenham’s search had come to an end, following an update from Fabrizio Romano, who appended his famous ‘here we go’ to the Thomas Frank to Spurs deal.
The Italian journalist stated that an agreement between Spurs and Frank had been reached on contract terms and staff, and that Brentford are expected to release Frank for a fee in the region of £10m.
Thomas Frank deal not yet agreed between Tottenham and Brentford
However, a new report from Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas now claims that an agreement between Brentford and Spurs for Frank has not been reached yet.
According to the reporter, it is understood that talks are expected to continue this morning over compensation, as several backroom staff are also under discussion, including Justin Cochrane.
His tweet on X reads: “An agreement between Brentford and Tottenham for Thomas Frank has not been reached yet. Talks are expected to continue this morning over compensation, with several backroom staff also under discussion, including Justin Cochrane.”
Spurs still expected to finalise Frank deal this week
Indeed, it is only a matter of time before Spurs finalise their deal with Brentford over a fee for Frank, which is expected to be in the region of £10m.
Frank himself is open to a move to Tottenham, as it has since been reported that personal terms have been reached between Spurs and Thomas Frank.
With Spurs now in contact with Brentford over a move for Frank and his backroom coaching staff, reports also suggest that a deal will be completed in the coming days, as Tottenham have a deadline set for announcing Frank’s appointment.
