Tottenham set deadline to appoint Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou replacement
Tottenham have set a deadline for appointing Brentford manager Thomas Frank, following their decision to part ways with Ange Postecoglou just days into the summer window.
Following the sacking of 15 managers since taking charge as chairman of Tottenham Hotspur 24 years ago, Daniel Levy is now on the hunt for manager number 16 as Spurs continue their summer rebuild.
Postecoglou was only relieved of his duties as Tottenham manager on June 6, after the club announced that they would not be continuing with the Australian following a two-year spell.
In Spurs’ official statement, it was revealed that Postecoglou’s departure was for performance-related reasons, as the 59-year-old coach picked up 78 points from his last 66 Premier League games.
Tottenham set sights on Thomas Frank to replace Ange Postecoglou
Focus now swiftly turns to finding a replacement for the former Spurs boss, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank the frontrunner to land the Tottenham job.
Reports have stated that Spurs have had direct talks with Frank, and that Brentford would not stand in the way of Thomas Frank if he wants to move to a bigger club.
The Athletic have now revealed when Tottenham are expected to announce the appointment of a new manager, with the publication stating that an announcement is due in the next week.
David Ornstein wrote: “A decision on a replacement is anticipated next week with Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach, the leading contender. There is yet to be contact made with the West London club.”
Spurs remain in talks with Frank as Marco Silva lingers
The Fulham boss is also in the running for the Spurs job, with recent reports revealing that Silva is edging closer to sealing a move to Tottenham.
However, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has since reported that talks between Tottenham and Frank are progressing well, and that the Lilywhites are optimistic they could get a deal done.
It has also been revealed that Daniel Levy has held multiple meetings with Thomas Frank regarding taking the job in the Tottenham dugout, as the club look to bring in a new manager as soon as possible.
Indeed, the Lilywhites cannot afford to drag their feet on this decision, as their transfer activity has been non-existent due to weeks of uncertainty.
