Why Tottenham Hotspur will be happy with Man City's expected piece of transfer business - Opinion
Tottenham will be quietly pleased with Manchester City’s latest transfer decision, especially given the growing summer interest in one of their star performers.
With the summer transfer window now open Tottenham Hotspur fans will be expecting to be busy one, especially after it was reported that Spurs are looking to strengthen three key positions and that five new faces could be heading to Hotspur Way this summer.
While the club will be eyeing new additions, Tottenham will also be eager to keep some of their top performers this summer, as they look to build on their recent Europa League success.
Frustratingly, however, with Tottenham yet to make a decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future, there are yet to be any new additions to the playing squad.
It has been reported that Daniel Levy is determined to keep star centre-back Cristian Romero at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a bid to show ambition, despite interest from Atletico Madrid.

Of course, Cristian Romero is not the only Tottenham player to be attracting interest from Europe, as Destiny Udogie was reported to be on the radar of Manchester City.
Indeed, given the performances of the Italian full-back, particularly in the Europa League last season, Tottenham would not want to lose the 22-year-old this summer.
In fact, following interest from Manchester City two months ago, it was reported that Tottenham were set to reject any offer from the Manchester club.
Now, a recent development from Pep Guardiola’s side’s transfer dealings leaves Spurs with one less thing to worry about after it was reported that Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri after initial talks have taken place.
This would mean Destiny Udogie, who played 36 matches in all competitions for Spurs, is expected to remain at Hotspur Way this summer, unless there is new interest from elsewhere later this transfer window.
Spurs looking to protect core players like Destiny Udogie
With Tottenham still yet to confirm their managerial situation, the club must retain its best players before a new manager arrives and decides on which players to keep and which to let go.
It was reported back in April that Spurs were hell-bent on keeping Udogie because they believe he is a great tactical fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system.
Destiny Udogie’s versatility was one of the reasons why City showed interest in the left-back, and if Tottenham were to hire a new manager this summer, the Italian’s versatility would be of great importance, because he can fit into any system given his ability to overlap and invert.
