Mousa Dembele, Robbie Keane, and Aaron Lennon react to Tottenham’s Europa League win

0 4

A host of former Tottenham players have expressed their delight after the club broke their 17-year trophy drought on Wednesday, and one man, who was a huge fan favourite during the Mauricio Pochettino era, has now joined the party.

Tottenham Hotspur have had some outstanding teams and some world-class managers over the last two decades, which is why their lack of silverware over the last 17 years was so puzzling.

Not many would have thought that the club’s trophy curse would eventually be broken by a manager with no prior experience in Europe’s top five leagues and a side who sit just above the relegation spots.

Ange Postecoglou and this young Tottenham squad have written their name into the club’s history books, achieving something that many of the big names that have come before them have failed to do.

Tributes pouring in from former Tottenham players

Many of the club’s former players, who have tried to win silverware and fallen just short, are over the moon to see the Lilywhites finally get their hands on silverware.

Harry Kane expressed his delight soon after Tottenham lifted the Europa League, while his former boss, Mauricio Pochettino is also over the moon to see his beloved Spurs win a trophy.

Mousa Dembele has now become the latest ex-Spurs man to congratulate his former side, with the Belgian midfielder maestro taking to Instagram stories to write “COYS” along with a heart emoji.

Other Tottenham legends from yesteryear also react

This Europa League victory and the reaction to it from former players has shown just how tight the Spurs community is, with many of the club’s ex-players continuing to bleed Lilywhite despite leaving the club more than a decade ago.

Former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane labelled it an “unbelievable achievement” (talkSPORT) while his former teammate Aaron Lennon also reacted joyously on social media.

Spurs fans will also not be surprised to learn that fan favourite, Lucas Moura, also reacted with the usual enthusiasm, with the Brazilian sharing a video of himself watching the final in a full Tottenham kit.
