Beckham warns INEOS: This 'exceptional' Man Utd star must stay at Old Trafford amid transfer links

Manchester United legend David Beckham has issued a powerful warning to the club’s hierarchy.

In an interview with The Athletic, Beckham heaped praise on the United captain for his outstanding contributions during the 2024–25 campaign.

He said: “I’d like to think you wouldn’t have to sell your captain (Fernandes). He has been exceptional.

“We’ve all been critical at times of some United players — but when we needed someone to step up, he has done it.”

The comments come amid growing interest from the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Hilal reportedly offering Fernandes a jaw-dropping wage package worth over £65 million per year.

Beckham knows that letting go of the 30-year-old midfield maestro would be nothing short of sabotage for Ruben Amorim’s project at Old Trafford.

Fernandes has amassed incredible numbers, netting 19 goals and 19 assists in 55 games across all competitions.

His magnificent performances helped him bag the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award for the record fourth time.

Amorim has deployed Fernandes in a deeper central role, tapping into his relentless energy and tactical discipline.

Far more than just an attacking spark, Fernandes has also showcased a tireless work rate on the defensive end, emerging as a complete midfielder.

The Portuguese magnifico is the pulse of this team — a leader, a creator, and a fighter rolled into one.

Amid managerial changes, tactical shifts, and a lengthy injury list, Fernandes remained the team’s constant source of drive, determination, and leadership.

Selling him for a financial windfall would be a grave misstep and a betrayal of everything United are trying to rebuild.

Replacing a player of his influence and output would be nearly impossible, especially in a summer already filled with uncertainty.
