Bill Belichick Recalls Bizarre Purchase For Tom Brady, Antonio Brown

Bill Belichick never hesitated to rip Tom Brady in Patriots meetings, as the legendary head coach wanted to make it clear that no one player was above the rest in New England.

However, there were some times when the supremely accomplished quarterback received superstar treatment in Foxboro, Mass.

Belichick recalled one of the moments when he appeared on “The Pivot” podcast to promote his new book. After Antonio Brown joined the Patriots in 2019, the enigmatic wide receiver purchased a special kind of milk that cost $5,000 to give to Brady, who never spares expenses when it comes to nutrition. But there was a mix-up with the delivery, and the milk ended up going bad in the Gillette Stadium mail room.

Enter Belichick, who spearheaded the milk replacement with hopes of fostering a great relationship between his franchise signal-caller and Brady’s new weapon.

“So, we go out and get $5,000 worth of milk — this special milk,” Belichick said. “We gave it to Brady from Antonio. So now, we turn in an expense report, like, $5,000 worth of milk. But you know what? Sometimes you gotta do the right thing, and I didn’t want to ruin the relationship between Brown and Brady on this spoiled milk. So, we spent $5,000 to replace his milk.”

The unusual grocery bill ended up being all for naught — for Belichick, at least. The Patriots released Brown less than two weeks after they signed him, but two years later, he reunited with Brady in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers might have increased their beverage budget that year, too, but it probably was all spent on champagne after winning Super Bowl LV.
