Man United get double injury boost, but trio still missing ahead of Chelsea showdown

0 0

Midfielder Toby Collyer has returned to training ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday.

The England youth international last featured for United in the 3-0 league victory at Leicester City in March.

Collyer has earned the trust of manager Ruben Amorim. He was impressive in the Europa League encounter with Rangers in January, registering a record-breaking statistic.

However, he is still behind Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order for the double midfield pivot.

With Amorim focusing on the Europa League final clash with Tottenham Hotspur, the young midfielder could play as a substitute against Chelsea.

Centre-back Jonny Evans also trained. After returning to the matchday squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, he has missed the last four games.

There is positive news regarding the fitness status of right-wing-back Diogo Dalot, who picked up a calf injury before the league clash at Bournemouth.

The Portuguese completed an individual training session today. He is unlikely to feature against the Blues but could be in the squad for the Europa League final.

Defender Leny Yoro missed the training session after suffering an injury against West Ham United on Sunday.

The Frenchman is unlikely to be involved against Enzo Maresca’s side but could also return against Tottenham.

Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt missed training. He was substituted in the 4-3 defeat at Brentford due to an injury, but is expected to return to full fitness soon.

Defender Ayden Heaven was absent. The former Arsenal academy player was injured in March and suffered a setback in his recovery last month.

Amorim will hope his injured players can recover in time for the must-win game against Tottenham.
