Dharmesh Sheth - Man Utd now want to sign 24y/o English winger
Manchester United are keeping an eye on the situation of Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
The 24-year-old English forward is out of contract at the City Ground club next summer, which has alerted the Red Devils and other suitors.
AS Roma and Napoli are also keen and want to lure Hudson-Odoi to the Serie A, but Forest are in talks with him over an extension.
The former Chelsea star played as a wing-back under Thomas Tuchel at the Stamford Bridge club, and while he has mainly played as a winger since then, Man United head coach Ruben Amorim could be looking to play him as a wing-back again if he lands him.
Hudson-Odoi has five goals and three assists in 29 league games for Forest this term after weighing in with eight goals and two assists in 29 league matches last term, and he could be a solid addition to the Red Devils attack.
The three-time England international will be available for a decent fee if he decides to move on this summer having cost his current club a fee of under £5 million, and Man United could make do with a shrewd and quality signing given their finances.
They are expected to sell the attacking trio of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho this summer and will need to replace them with at least one player capable of featuring successfully in the system and style of the Portuguese boss.
Hudson-Odoi could fancy his chances of impressing at the Old Trafford club, and joining a big side will likely appeal to him as he eyes a return to the England national team set-up ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Regular playing opportunities and Champions League football could also influence his decision, and winning the Europa League will give the Red Devils a chance of landing him should they firm up their interest with a bid in the coming months.
