'They will never be welcome' - Man United fans plan mass protest in final PL game at Old Trafford

Manchester United supporters are planning to stage another mass protest against the Glazer family during the final home game of the Premier League season at Old Trafford.

The protest, led by fan group The 1958, has been scheduled for United’s home game against Aston Villa on May 25.

The demonstration coincides with the 20th anniversary of the £790 million leveraged takeover of the club, which many believe was the start of United’s fall from grace.

In a powerful rallying cry issued by The 1958, fans are being urged to unite and march together in protest.

“Our final home game is against Aston Villa,” their statement read (via Chris Wheeler).

“We march, as one fanbase, to make it clear – 20 years on, the fire still burns red, with fury and defiance. We protest, once again, at Villa.”

The group described the Glazers’ acquisition of the club in 2005 as a dark chapter in United’s history, claiming it marked the loss of the club’s community values and spirit.

The American owners have prioritised profits over passion, loading the club with over a billion pounds of debt and taking large dividends while on-pitch success has declined.

The statement reflects the deep-rooted frustration among fans.

“Sir Alex Ferguson, a staunch supporter of the Glazers then and now, masked the damage with unprecedented success on the pitch,” they added.

“Since his retirement, the rot beneath has been laid bare for all to see — the true cost of 20 years of financial exploitation and mismanagement.”

Supporters cite crumbling stadium infrastructure, poor recruitment, and a lack of meaningful investment in club facilities as clear signs of the Glazers’ failings.

They also voiced concern over job losses following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial investment, which some see as more of a short-term fix than a long-term solution.

The 1958’s message concluded with a call for unity and resistance.

“Lifelong, loyal supporters are being driven away from the club they love — priced out and pushed aside.

“Another dagger in the heart of our footballing community.

“We want the Glazers out of our club. They were never welcome. They are not welcome now. They will never be welcome.”
