Tottenham could end up playing against Timo Werner next season

0 7

Timo Werner does not have a future at Tottenham, but the forward could remain in the Premier League next season as two English clubs are now keeping an eye on his situation.

Werner has failed to hit the expected heights during his year-and-a-half loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur, with the experienced forward continuing to be plagued by a lack of end product.

The 29-year-old has only played 70 minutes of league football since December despite all the injuries that Spurs have had, which perhaps shows what Ange Postecoglou thinks of him.

In fact, it has been widely reported over recent months that Tottenham have already told Leipzig they will not activate the £8.5m option to buy Werner, with the player expected to be on the move this summer once he returns to his parent club.

Timo Werner could remain in the Premier League

According to talkSPORT, Werner’s struggles at Chelsea and Spurs have not put him off wanting to remain in the Premier League.

While it is clear that he has no future at Tottenham, the player is settled in London and would welcome the chance to remain in the capital.

According to the report, this has put both Fulham and West Ham on alert as the two clubs scour the market for attacking reinforcements.

While it is unclear where Werner will end up this summer, a permanent departure from Leipzig looks inevitable since the pacy wide-man has just one year left on his deal at the Red Bull Arena.

Over recent weeks, it has also been suggested that the on-loan Leipzig man could make a move to the United States.

According to Bild, Werner is open to the idea of moving to Major League Soccer as he looks to rebuild his career after several poor seasons in Europe.

One possible destination for the forward is Leipzig’s sister club, New York Red Bulls, with Bild stating that the club could be a ‘perfect launch ramp’ for the pacy wide-man to get his career back on track.
