Red Sox Complete Trade With Brewers By Acquiring Right-Hander

The player to be named later has been named.

The Red Sox on Monday acquired minor league right-handed pitcher John Holobetz from the Milwaukee Brewers. It completed an April 7 trade, in which Boston dealt right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester to the Brewers.

Milwaukee selected the 22-year-old in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

The Old Dominion product has pitched five games (three starts) for Single-A Carolina this season. He’s posted a 3.00 ERA with 31 strikeouts and five walks and limited opponents to a .180 batting average.

In exchange for Priester, Boston also acquired minor league outfielder Yophery Rodriguez and a Competitive Balance Round A selection in the 2025 draft. The 19-year-old Rodriguez was ranked as Milwaukee’s No. 7 prospect and is now No. 17 on Sox Prospects.
