Lauren Doran-Barr: Everyone Is Pushing Each Other On

0 2

Hibs Women defender Lauren Doran-Barr is pleased by the morale in the squad at the moment as the Hibees ready themselves for a trip to Oriam on this weekend.

The boost in positivity largely comes from recent strong performances, which are in large part due to the defensive resilience on show each matchday.

The Hibees conceded 32 goals across the entire 2023/24 league season. This season only 14 have been let in with four matches remaining. A clear improvement - and one that Doran-Barr is happy to see.

"We’re really pleased we’ve been conceding less goals. It’s a step in the right direction," she told HibsTV.

"It’s a testament to the work we’ve put in on the training pitch in terms of our shape and tactics.

"I don’t think it’s just the backline, I think we’re defending better from the front as well."

The girls are also unbeaten in three matches and remain top of the ScottishPower Women's Premier League as a televised Edinburgh Derby clash awaits on Sunday afternoon.

It has been quick turnaround for the Hibees, who defeated Motherwell 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Meadowbank - with goals from Kathleen McGovern and Kirsten Reilly sealing the victory.

"We got the three points, which at this stage of the season is the most important thing," the 25-year-old commented.

"By the standards we set ourselves, it probably wasn’t our best performance. It’s just important we recover as best as we possibly can ahead of this weekend’s game."

"The mood in the squad is really positive, and focused as well. There has been a real good energy in training.

"Everyone is pushing each other. We’ve prepared well and we’re ready for the game on Sunday."
