'Dream move': Man United academy star agrees to 'pay cut' to seal La Liga transfer this summer

Manchester United have to sell a few of their players in order to boost their summer transfer kitty.

Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Tom Heaton are likely to move on after their contracts expire in June.

Man United are expected to cash in on the attacking triplet of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho.

According to the Mirror, Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to seal a dream move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old is currently spending the second half of the 2024-25 season at Aston Villa.

His future at United was thrown into doubt after head coach Ruben Amorim dropped him for weeks, unimpressed with his lack of intensity in training.

With Amorim at the helm, Rashford’s future seems to be away from Old Trafford.

Aston Villa have an option to sign the England international permanently for £40 million.

However, the forward “does not want to join them” and favours a switch to Spain.

The biggest stumbling block in Rashford’s sale is his astonishing £350,000-a-week salary.

It is great news for the Red Devils if he is ready to lower his demands in order to secure a transfer to Barcelona.

Not many European clubs can meet his current salary.

Barcelona remain financially constrained, and unless Rashford lowers his expectations, a deal remains out of reach.

Moving to Spain will help the United academy star reboot his career in a new environment.

He has not exactly set the world alight during his brief spell with the Villans.

He is also unlikely to play for them again this campaign due to a hamstring issue.

United are hopeful of recouping around £40 million from his sale, a sum they could reinvest in a much-needed elite striker.
