Mansfield Town
A few weeks ago I made my first foray onto this website seeking the procedure to obtain match tickets for my daughter and family who were just about to leave New Zealand for a 5 week tour of the UK and Europe. The two games they were available for were the Cup Final and the Mansfield games.
I received some useful feedback that I passed onto my daughter, and thank you for that.
(Un)fortunately they missed out on the Wembley tickets. So, to ensure they felt the atmosphere at St Andrew’s they booked a tour of St Andrew’s last Friday. The tour guide was a Brummie guy, who according to my daughter, had a very Brummie sense of humour - probably similar to mine. He never missed an opportunity to put the boot in the Villa????. Until then my daughter had thought the rivalry was good natured, ‘they hate each other Dad’ she opined. Mmm I kinda know that????.
Anyway I will quickly digress from the story with an interesting fact they learnt on the tour, the the person who scored the first goal ever for Blues is buried in a cemetery in Dannevirke, a small town just outside the city in which my daughter lives. Next time the pass through D’virke they are going to look for the grave.
Anyway back to the story, early last week I received a text from my excited daughter confirming ticket for the Mansfield game. They were seated close to the front in the Kop in the corner next to the Railway End. Well I don’t need to go into detail about the game, beautiful weather, happy crowd, some exciting footie to watch and of course the presentation ceremony ( oh and the free champions scarf????). The absolutely loved every second of it.
Oh one final anecdote, my granddaughter is a very calm young lady. Never has great ups or downs, just takes life as it comes. During the game she sent me 4 photos of the different score on the scoreboard. The first 3 were just photos, no comment. The fourth was was 4-0 and ‘Suck on that Mansfield’ ????. She has the bug!
I can tell you the Blues shirts the kid bought will be worn often and proudly in NZ, a small step in internationalising the Blues brand?
Again many thanks for your help and KRO to the the Prems.
