Real Betis preparing loan offer for £40m Man United star
Real Betis are preparing a season-long loan offer for Manchester United loanee Antony (h/t the Telegraph).
They intend to strike a deal that will be within their transfer budget and also keep their current arrangement on the payment of his salary.
The Brazilian has looked reborn since joining Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the winter transfer window.
He was named ‘Barca’s biggest headache’ in a league clash with the table-toppers earlier this month.
Antony has started every game since joining the La Liga club and has contributed five goals and four assists in 18 games.
The 25-year-old is one of the players leading the Green and Whites’ push for Champions League qualification and a Europa Conference League triumph.
United are unlikely to accept a loan offer for Antony
Man United are reportedly in a good financial position to sign primary targets Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap.
However, they will need more than two signings to build a formidable squad for next season. They may need to sell to fund the acquisition of other targets.
United would consider selling Antony. They value the Brazilian at £40 million, which Betis or other suitors may have to pay to secure his signature.
Having impressed in Spain, United will hope that there are other clubs interested in Antony if Betis fail to sign him permanently.
Atletico Madrid are monitoring him, but it is unclear whether they will step up their interest in the former Ajax forward.
