Man Utd must pay £70m for ace Amorim is very fond of & a big admirer of, he’s taken most PL shots this term
Bournemouth have set a price of £70 million for Manchester United attacking target Antoine Semenyo, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
The journalist claimed so in his ‘Reading the Game’ weekly newsletter on Friday after The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reported earlier this month that Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim is very fond of the Ghana international.
The Portuguese is a big admirer of the 25-year-old and has ideas about how to deploy him in a new-look attack next season as he looks to hit the ground running in his first full season in charge.
Semenyo has taken the most shots (116) in the Premier League so far, with eight goals and five assists to his name in 32 appearances in the competition, but it is his two-footedness which has likely caught the attention of the Man United boss.
The Bournemouth star can do everything – from dribbling, passing and shooting – with both feet, and his ability to play comfortably on either wing and as a number 9 makes his versatility admirable.
Semenyo is also solid defensively, often helping his team whenever they are out of possession.
He is a good interceptor of the ball, and no Premier League forward has averaged more blocked passes per 90 minutes than his 1.5 so far this season.
His work rate on and off the ball is a quality Man United could do with in attack, but paying £70m for him in the summer transfer window looks unlikely.
Semenyo signed a new deal last summer and still has four years left on his contract, which will make luring him away from the Cherries tricky.
Man United want to strengthen their attack after their current crop of forwards struggled in the final third this term, but they will be wary about overspending on players having frequently done so since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, and Bournemouth will have to lower their demands if Semenyo is to be plying his trade elsewhere next season.
