Alan Shearer issues ‘ugly’ warning to Tottenham ahead of Liverpool clash
Alan Shearer believes that even though Tottenham Hotspur do not have much to play for in the Premier League, there is one thing they cannot afford to happen when they travel to Anfield on Sunday.
The stakes for Spurs and Liverpool players could not be any more different heading into the big game on Merseyside this Sunday.
All eyes will descend on Anfield as the Reds look to finish the job and ensure they lift the Premier League title in front of their home fans.
In stark contrast, the Tottenham players will be looking over their shoulders at next week’s Europa League semifinal at Bodo/Glimt as the Lilywhites look to make their first major European final since 2019.

Alan Shearer fears for Tottenham against Liverpool
Shearer is confident that Arne Slot’s men will be too good at home for Tottenham, which will not surprise Spurs fans.
However, the Newcastle legend fears that the scoreline could get really messy for the North London side, which he insists Ange Postecoglou’s men cannot afford.
Shearer told Bet Fair about Sunday’s clash: “Liverpool will win the title this weekend by winning against Tottenham. However, Spurs can’t afford for it to get messy after losing at home to Forest, and there’s every chance that it could. It could turn ugly if Liverpool score early and the party celebrations begin at Anfield. This will definitely be a home win.”
How much rotation will we see from Ange Postecoglou?
The big decision Postecoglou faces is the level of rotation ahead of the first leg of the semifinal, which comes four days after this fixture.
It is important that Tottenham do not get beaten heavily as the Australian will not want the confidence of his players to take a beating ahead of the Europa League tie.
However, he would also want all of his starters fully fit and fresh for the first leg as the Lilywhites will be hoping to put the tie to bed before they travel to Norway for the second leg.
