Why Super Bowl Champion Called Will Campbell ‘Perfect Patriot’
Another Patriots Hall of Famer put his stamp of approval on New England’s 2025 first-round draft pick.
The Patriots didn’t receive any trade calls for the No. 4 pick and selected Will Campbell to be their left tackle of the future. Head coach Mike Vrabel admitted it was “very easy” to select the 21-year-old, and Drake Maye was pumped to hear about the LSU product’s dedication. Amid the mixed reviews of the Campbell pick, Tedy Bruschi offered high praise for the decision.
MassLive’s Karen Guregian texted Patriots Hall of Famer Rodney Harrison about his former team’s draft pick. He called Campbell the “perfect Patriot.”
“If I’m trying to build a championship team, it starts up front,” Harrison told Guregian on Thursday. “If you go get a tackle that can protect you’re young quarterback the next 4 or 5 years, and you bring in a locker room presence like Campbell, you can start building.”
The two-time Super Bowl champion used the Detroit Lions as an example of a rebuilding team that built an impressive offensive line to become a contender. When Vrabel became head coach, it was clear he would build through the trenches, and the Patriots likely will continue to do so throughout the rest of the NFL draft.
