How NFL Experts Graded Patriots’ 2025 First-Round Draft Pick

The Patriots on Thursday night did something the franchise hadn’t done in over 50 years.

New England used the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on LSU product Will Campbell. The highly anticipated selection marked the first time the Patriots used a top-10 draft pick on an offensive lineman since Pro Football Hall of Famer John Hannah landed with New England at fourth overall in 1973.

Campbell has a chance to address a long-standing need in Foxboro, Mass., but was he the best use of the Patriots’ first-round selection? Here’s how NFL experts — if you want to call them that — graded New England’s Campbell pick.

Chad Reuter, NFL.com: B-
Nick Baumgardner and Scott Dochterman, The Athletic: A
Rob Rang, FOX Sports: B+
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: B-
Danny Kelly, The Ringer: B+
Charles McDonald, Yahoo Sports: B+
Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report: B

The lack of “A” grades wasn’t surprising, as Campbell entered Day 1 of the draft as one of the more polarizing top-tier talents in the class. However, it’s clear the 21-year-old couldn’t be more motivated to prove doubters wrong as he protects Drake Maye’s blindside.
