Premier League manager declines to meet with Tottenham about future job

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an approach to a Premier League boss about replacing Ange Postecoglou in the summer, and he has given a clear response to the North London club about his future plans.

It was reported last month that Andoni Iraola is open to taking over at Tottenham this summer on the back of two very impressive campaigns at the helm at the Vitality Stadium, but the situation appears to have changed drastically over the last week or two.

We have now heard from some sources that Iraola is leaning towards staying at the Cherries for one more year.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth are wasting no time in trying to tie down Iraola to a new contract as they aim to keep him off Tottenham’s clutches.

Andoni Iraola has now responded to Tottenham’s approach

Journalist Duncan Castles has now revealed that the North London club have already approached the Spaniard, even though we are still quite a way away from the end of the season.

However, it looks like the Spurs may have to look elsewhere for Postecoglou’s replacement as Castles says that the 42-year-old has rebuffed Tottenham’s attempts and is now in talks over signing a new deal at the Vitality Stadium.

The journalist stated on The Transfers Podcast: “Interestingly, my guidance on this is that Tottenham’s approaches to Iraola have been rebuffed by the manager. He has been invited and told to speak to them about that position, and has actually declined to do so.

“And instead, he has been having conversations with Bournemouth, informal conversations with Bournemouth for several weeks now, about not only continuing on his current contract but signing a new contract to extend there.”

Who will Spurs turn to next? Thomas Frank? Marco Silva?

If Iraola is no longer on the market, Spurs may not want to wait long before exploring other options, as it has been reported that Tottenham want to appoint a manager early this summer.

According to various outlets, Thomas Frank and Marco Silva are the next names on Spurs’ wishlist after Iraola, and one may thus expect the Lilywhites to reach out to them soon.

Over the last week, various publications have suggested that Tottenham are also big admirers of Oliver Glasner, which could also be a situation worth watching.
