Ange Postecoglou creates Tottenham history with a woefully unwanted record

0 4

Ange Postecoglou has officially presided over a Tottenham Hotspur side that are easier to beat than any other Spurs team across Premier League history, with the Lilywhites setting a new record following their loss to Nottingham Forest.

Forest completed the double over Spurs with their 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was the North London club’s 18th league defeat in 33 league matches.

That is undoubtedly relegation form, and one can argue that if the three newly promoted sides were not as bad as they are, the Lilywhites would have had very real concerns about relegation right now.

It has now been revealed that Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham created history with their latest home loss on Monday night.

Tottenham suffer 18 defeats in a Premier League season

According to BBC Sport, 18 defeats is the most that Spurs have suffered in a 38-game league season since the start of the Premier League almost three and a half decades ago.

This includes shock defeats at the hands of Ipswich Town, Leicester City, West Ham, and Wolves, all of whom are in the bottom six of the Premier League table.

The worst part is that Spurs still have five Premier League games to play this season, meaning they could suffer a potential 23 defeats come the end of the campaign. Fortunately, the Lilywhites are safe from relegation, but the squad is certainly not safe from judgement.

Senior Tottenham men disappoint again against Nottingham Forest

The most concerning thing about the performance is that the home side were once again let down by senior players, many of whom failed to turn up.

Guglielmo Vicario has been handed a match rating of 4/10 after failing to deal with yet another cross, which will be a worry for Postecoglou, given the big games coming up.

In fact, we named three Tottenham Hotspur stars who let the side down against Nottingham Forest.

However, the flip side to that is that some players might have understandably taken their eye off the ball in the Premier League, with winning the Europa League now becoming the side’s primary focus.
