Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie plans confirmed by second source as Man City circle
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now become the latest to provide an update on Destiny Udogie’s future and Tottenham’s expected course of action this summer as the left-back attracts interest from Manchester City.
The Spurs left-back has had a disappointing second season in North London following a stellar debut campaign, and some question marks are now being raised about the Italian’s future at the club.
His form this season has seemingly not put off Pep Guardiola’s men, with reports first emerging last week that Udogie has emerged as a target for Man City.
However, over the last few days, some outlets have claimed that Daniel Levy will not let Udogie go without a fight, and the same information has now been backed up by another source.
Tottenham’s stance on Destiny Udogie is very clear
Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to state that Spurs have no intention of selling Udogie under any circumstances this summer.
According to the journalist, Tottenham Hotspur still see the left-back as a ‘key player’ despite his struggles this season and has failed to even quote a price tag to the Italian’s suitors.
In fact, Plettenberg adds that the North London club want to add another left-back to their squad this summer to compete with Udogie.
Why Spurs cannot afford to lose Udogie this summer
Udogie will be the only recognised left-back in the Tottenham squad this summer, with Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon both set to be free agents this June, as things stand.
It would thus make little sense for Spurs to weaken themselves further in a position where they are already short of numbers.
Besides, Udogie is still only 22 and the Spurs hierarchy may feel that the former Empoli man is still nowhere near his ceiling as a player.
